Join us in helping our clients in marketing for a better world.
Overview
Strategic rigor, briefing power, and client partnership
We’re seeking a deeply curious, culturally attuned strategist to lead brand and marketing strategy across the agency. This is a pivotal role that bridges insight and imagination, bringing strategic rigor, clarity, and creative innovation that fuel effective and lasting campaigns.
You’ll work across accounts to uncover what truly moves people, translate those insights into compelling strategies, and shape creative briefs that unlock bold ideas. From campaign planning to messaging frameworks, from difficult decisions to creative breakthroughs, you’ll be the strategic backbone that drives more innovative work and stronger client partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Insight Development
- Lead the design and execution of qualitative, quantitative, and secondary research to uncover actionable insights.
- Explore not just what audiences do, but why. Identify emotional, behavioral, and cultural drivers that reveal deeper opportunities.
- Conduct competitive audits, stakeholder interviews, and trend analysis to inform strategies and challenge assumptions.
- Develop audience profiles and journey maps that bring precision and empathy to campaign planning.
Strategy Development
- Translate insights into comprehensive brand strategies, messaging frameworks, and marketing roadmaps that deliver measurable impact.
- Balance foundational brand strategy (positioning, value proposition, narrative architecture) with agile, channel-aware campaign thinking.
- Build frameworks and tools that bring structure and clarity to strategic planning across the agency.
- Collaborate with account teams to set KPIs and ensure strategies are measurable and aligned with business goals.
Creative Briefing & Oversight
- Craft briefs that spark ideas, not dictate them. Define the problem to be solved and the tension to be explored.
- Partner with creative directors to ensure the work remains strategically grounded through concept development, production, and refinement.
- Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback that challenges the work to go further while staying true to the strategic intent.
Strategic Marketing Oversight & Client Stewardship
- Serve as a strategic partner to Account Directors—meeting regularly to ensure alignment, surface opportunities, and proactively identify and address risks.
- Apply deep marketing knowledge to spot what others might miss—raising critical questions around licensing, tone, platform fit, cultural relevance, or legal risk.
- Push the work, not for the sake of pushing, but to ensure our solutions are smart, innovative, defensible, and built for long-term trust.
- Stay ahead of what’s changing across media, audience expectations, and industry trends—bringing strategic foresight into internal and client conversations.
- Join client meetings as needed to provide insight-driven counsel and model strategic leadership.
Agency Leadership & Growth
- Elevate strategic thinking across the agency by mentoring junior strategists and account teams.
- Help refine and scale internal planning processes and tools that strengthen our work across functions.
- Contribute to new business efforts by developing strategy sections of proposals and bringing clear frameworks to pitches and presentations.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience in brand planning, marketing strategy, or integrated campaign development—preferably within an agency or strategic consultancy.
- Strong command of research synthesis, message strategy, and positioning development.
- Demonstrated success working cross-functionally with creative, account, and digital teams.
- Clear, persuasive communicator and critical thinker with the confidence to ask hard questions and the experience to know when to push.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects while keeping the big picture in focus.
- Cultural fluency and a firm grasp of messaging nuance across audiences and platforms.
- Bilingual or bicultural experience is a plus, especially in multicultural or community-centered campaigns.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary plus bonus
- Group Health Plan
- Dental, Life & Vision
- IRA, similar to a 401K
- Transit Benefit Program
- PTO
- Anniversary holiday
- Hybrid work environment for eligible individuals
