Stop the persecution of Latino and Black youth

Latino and Black youth are disproportionally stopped and detained by Chicago Police. First Defense Legal Aid mobilizes lawyers and over-policed community members to fill gaps in public defense by providing free police station representation during the first 48 hours of an arrest. The challenge was low service usage due to a lack of awareness.

Purple Group increased the awareness and visibility of FDLA’s free legal services hotline through messaging that empowered individuals through knowledge. The compelling messaging encouraged individuals to be silent when arrested, and supporting materials informed them of their rights to a lawyer at the police station.
